Katarzyna Gruszecka – Spychała is Attorney-at-law, law graduate of the University of Gdańsk, the School of American Law (UG/ Chicago-Kent College of Law) and the Leadership Academy for Poland. For last nine years, as Deputy Mayor of Gdynia, Katarzyna has been responsible for the city development strategy, spatial planning, economic policy, ownership supervision and public transport.
She actively supports development of Gdynia’s business including foreign direct investments in the city. She is also a member of the Urban Land Institute and of the Task Force for Urban and Metropolitan Areas of the Committee for Spatial Economy and Regional Planning, Polish Academy of Sciences. Initiator of the European Waterfront Cities Network.
Honored with the title of the Business Tiger. In 2020, as the only Polish woman to date, she received the Innovation in Politics Award in the category Economy. She has won three times the title of the “Polish City of the Future” for Gdynia in a ranking by FDI Magazine (Financial Times group).
